If someone tells you English wine will be brilliant one day, they’re wrong. It already is. Knollbury Fort is here to champion British farming and proper English winemaking.

Dating back to the Iron Age, Knollbury Fort has stood in the English landscape for millennia.

It's witnessed generations of farmers who have toiled to cultivate its stubborn soil. For most of that time, their labour yielded simple, hardy fare. But as summers grow longer and warmer, new crops have flourished, notably grapes, whose fruit now ripens to perfection to create genuinely world-class English wine.

This is Knollbury Fort. Where English wine makes its stand.

Taking its name from this hillfort near Jeremy Clarkson's Oxfordshire farm, Knollbury Fort exists to champion British farming and modern English winemaking. It holds its ground against the elements, the doubters, and the assumption that great wine must come from somewhere else.

"Having sorted out beer, I realised that Britain had become rather good at growing grapes and making wine with them. It was time for Hawkstone to have a sister. The point is, we make wine now. It’s called Knollbury Fort and it is superb. I know, I would say that. But it’s our favourite wine at The Farmer’s Dog so you can try it for yourself in order to find out how right I am."
